Blouse to play The Earl 3/20

Portland, OR trio Blouse recently released their sophomore effort Imperium (Captured Tracks) and are hitting the road this spring with Dum Dum Girls. Imperium stays true to the group's dreamy sound, but they opted to leave the electronics at home for this one, stripping away the synths and drum machines that marked their debut self-titled LP for acoustic guitars, cellos, and percussion... or "instruments that don't plug into the wall," as put by band member/producer Jacob Portrait.

And speaking of a shift in sonic direction, the newest from Dum Dum Girls was a bit of a shocker for me as well. The first track off Too True reminds me more of Ladytron than anything I've ever heard from Dum Dum Girls. After that, the album is a bit more recognizable, but still more polished than their previous work. I'm not saying that this is a bad thing.

You can catch them both in Atlanta, playing The Earl on March 20.
