Based in both Los Angeles and New York City, Cold Cave is the moniker of Wesley Eisold, former vocalist for hardcore band Give Up The Ghost. This project (thankfully) leans more 80s New Wave inspired dark, dark synth pop. Pitchfork referred to it as "goth-pop" in their review of the 2011 LP Cherish the Light Years.
The first time I saw a Cold Cave performance was at the 2011 Pitchfork Festival. It was a blazing hot Chicago day in mid July, and somehow the black jeans, black tee, leather jacket clad gents were able to not only avoid passing out on stage, but they put on a hell of a performance. Check it out below. And come see them at The Earl on Sunday night. Get your tickets here.
